Sometimes you send a message and then discover a mistake or change your mind about what you wrote, which is why WhatsApp developed a feature that lets you edit the messages you sent.

From correcting a simple spelling mistake to including additional context with a message, WhatsApp is pleased to provide you with more control over your chats. Simply long-press on a sent message and select "Edit" from the menu within 15 minutes of sending the message.

The word "edited" will appear next to edited messages, so people you message are aware of a correction without us showing them the edit history. Like all messages, media, and personal calls, your messages and the edits you make to them are protected with end-to-end encryption.

This feature has started rolling out to users globally and will be available to everyone in the coming weeks.
