Today, at its annual Connect conference , Meta announced several AI features and products that will soon be available on WhatsApp.

Meta said:

We're inspired by the potential of generative AI and the role it can play in helping people enhance their creativity, productivity, and well-being just by sending a message. With so many conversations happening on WhatsApp, we want to help people around the world benefit from this new technology.

We're excited to launch three new AI services from Meta, which we expect will be the first steps in what could be a long journey of experiences we share together. Starting today, some users can begin testing the following features in conversations with friends and family:

• AI Stickers: You can now create a custom sticker that represents a thought or idea appropriate for your chat.
• AI Chats: Using Meta's AI solutions, you can ask any question to get more information on topics you care about or raise issues for discussion and resolution in your group chat, including getting perspectives from dozens of Meta-created personas who respond in interesting ways.

• Create realistic images: By typing the /imagine command, AI solutions allow you to create images that express an idea, place, or person.

If you're new to using early generative AI capabilities, we've gathered some basics on how these systems work to protect your privacy. The most important thing to know is that your personal messages with friends and family are completely private. AI solutions can read commands sent to them, but your personal messages remain end-to-end encrypted, so no one, not even Meta, can read them.

Additionally, we're interested in helping businesses improve the quality and speed of services they provide to people using their choice of AI solutions. We're working behind the scenes with a few partners at the moment and will provide more information in the coming months.
